# An Unexpected Visitor: The Day the President Met an Alien

Written on

Chapter 1: The President's Routine

President Xavier Crosse awoke promptly at 4:30 AM, as was his custom. For the next hour, he dedicated himself to fitness. Although he had once enjoyed boxing, the Secret Service prohibited any physical contact, so he resorted to weights and the treadmill instead.

After his workout, he luxuriated under the hot shower for at least 15 minutes. Though he didn’t require such lengthy showers—having been trained in military discipline—this was the only time he could relish solitude amidst a day filled with constant interruptions.

Soon, he dressed in a suit and found himself deliberating over whether to wear a red tie or a blue one. He understood that whatever choice he made would evoke strong opinions from others. Ultimately, he settled on the blue tie after a mental coin toss.

Not long after, he was seated in the Oval Office, poring over his Presidential Daily Briefing. Surprisingly, the day appeared to hold a promise of calmness, but he had learned from experience that crises often arose unexpectedly before lunchtime.

He held meetings with domestic advisors and military leaders, along with a myriad of others requiring his attention. Fortunately, as a second-term president, he was spared the incessant presence of campaign advisors and party officials, allowing him a rare opportunity to focus on governance.

Later that afternoon, his secretary announced an unexpected visitor who was not on the schedule. This was peculiar, considering how tightly his day was normally organized. However, since he had not yet been tackled by a Marine, he decided to allow the visitor in.

A tall, athletic man entered, introducing himself simply: “President Crosse.”

“Please, call me Xavier,” the President replied.

“I prefer to keep things formal,” the man responded.

“Oh? Very well. What brings you here?”

“I arrived and requested to meet your leader. Here I am.”

The President couldn’t help but laugh heartily, “That was a good one! I haven’t laughed like that in years; I truly needed it.”

“I’m not joking,” the man said, his tone suddenly serious.

“Excuse me?”

“This is urgent. I recommend we sit down.”

“Are you ordering me? May I remind you who you’re addressing?”

The man took a seat beside the President’s desk and gestured for him to do the same. “I’m trying to be polite, but you’re no longer in charge. I could easily reduce this building to rubble with a snap of my fingers.”

“Did you just threaten the President of the United States?”

“No, I’m simply trying to convey the gravity of this meeting.”

“I think it’s time for you to leave.”

“By all means, go ahead and press the panic button in your right drawer.”

This caught the President off guard; no one should have known about that. But he made a quick deduction. Seconds later, the Chief of his security detail and two additional agents burst into the room.

“Agent Dunlap, please escort this man away,” the President commanded.

“Yes, sir.”

The mysterious visitor waved his hand, and the agents were thrown back, crashing to the ground in unconsciousness.

Looking at the remaining agent, he said, “Sir, the President is safe. Please exit through that door and inform everyone it was a drill.”

“Understood,” the agent agreed, leaving the room.

“I told you, you’re not in charge anymore. Please sit, Mr. President.”

Reluctantly, the President complied. “Who are you?” he asked.

“I hail from a race that has observed your planet for millennia.”

“Millennia?”

“Yes. Our perception of time is different from yours—think in terms of thousands of years.”

“Why reveal yourselves now?”

“We aim to establish a base in this region of the universe, and Earth is ideal for our needs.”

“So, you intend to take over?”

“Essentially. This isn’t my first encounter like this; I previously met one of your predecessors.”

“Which one?”

“General Washington.”

“You met George Washington?”

“Indeed. He made compelling arguments for delaying our plans, and he proved to be quite the man.”

“Why the long wait? I just witnessed you incapacitate two armed men effortlessly. Surely, you could eradicate humanity.”

“We may have the capability, but our numbers are limited. Observing your penchant for conflict, we had no desire for prolonged warfare. Are you familiar with the film Independence Day?”

“Yes,” the President managed to suppress a laugh.

“We recognized the threat a united Earth could pose, prompting us to adopt a different strategy.”

“So, you were really just wary of Will Smith?”

“I assure you, this is no time for humor. I am here to deliver a warning.”

“And that is?”

“If you cooperate and allow us to take control, you may retain your position, and your family will be secure. Once the takeover occurs, you’ll maintain a high-ranking role.”

“What role would that be?”

“Governor of Earth. It can be a lifetime appointment.”

“Did you extend the same offer to Washington?”

“I did.”

“And what was his response?”

“His response, in modern terms, would be to ‘stick it where the sun doesn’t shine.’”

The President was taken aback, realizing Washington had turned down an offer of kingship.

“You won’t succeed. Humanity will resist vigorously.”

“You don’t grasp how simple it is. We won’t need to fight. Control the right individuals, and the entire planet is ours. A few bankers, corporate heads, and major landowners, and it will be over.”

“That will never happen.”

“Oh,” the alien smiled, “you’re mistaken. It’s already accomplished. I’m merely here for a courtesy visit.”
