In a delightful reflection on the Boost, Zivah's comparison led me to think of it as a dangly carrot. This brought to mind an essay by Janice Macdonald, who likened the Boost to a Cinderella fairy tale—not one that concludes with a charming prince, but rather one where the prize is the admiration of a discerning nommer. Instead of a fairytale romance, the reward is a surge of readers and financial gain.

This metaphor resonates with me. Lately, I've taken to identifying inventive metaphors for the Boost while reading Medium stories. It's fascinating to see the diverse interpretations by Medium writers regarding what the Boost signifies for them.

For George J. Ziogas, the Boost represents a momentary spotlight. For Amy Sea, being Boosted is akin to tasting the mane of a unicorn.
