Navigating the Challenges of Buying an M2 iPad Pro
Written on
The Decision to Purchase Again
The moment has arrived when I find myself compelled to visit the online Apple Store once more to order a 12.9-inch M2 iPad Pro. This marks the second occasion I’ve made this choice, as I previously returned the first unit without even unboxing it. Instead, I took to my YouTube channel to share my disappointment with Apple’s latest high-end tablet.
In this video, I discuss why I decided to repurchase the M2 iPad Pro, despite my earlier dissatisfaction.
Why the Initial Purchase Didn’t Work Out
I’ve been transparent about my concerns regarding Apple’s iPad offerings. I have always been an iPad enthusiast, having purchased the original model and defended it against skeptics who claimed it was merely a larger iPhone. However, integrating the iPad into my professional workflow has been challenging. The iPad mini is an exception, serving as an excellent tool for note-taking and consuming content.
This video explores whether the M2 iPad Pro justifies its price tag and if it truly meets users' needs.
Regrettably, other iPads I own, including the capable iPad Air and earlier generations of the Pro, often find themselves unused, prompting me to revert to macOS. The M2 iPad Pro feels almost identical to the previous M1 and A12Z models, leading to frustration over the lack of noticeable performance improvements. My main complaint remains the absence of professional-grade applications from Apple, such as Logic Pro and Final Cut Pro, which continue to be unavailable.
The Business Dilemma
Running a YouTube channel has its perks, and I wouldn't trade it for anything else. Nonetheless, as a business owner, I sometimes find myself cornered by my own decisions. A reputable brand has booked a sponsorship on my channel, which necessitates the use of the M2 iPad Pro for a specific video. The accessory I’m showcasing is only compatible with the latest model, leaving me with no option but to purchase an iPad I don’t particularly need.
Given that I cannot borrow an M2 iPad Pro or acquire a review unit, I am left with no choice but to invest £1,249 to create this content. This expenditure will inevitably affect the video's profitability.
Exploring Its Practical Use
Beyond the sponsored content, I'm unsure of how to utilize the iPad Pro effectively in my work. As a devoted Final Cut Pro user, transitioning to DaVinci Resolve—even temporarily—would be a significant shift. While I can experiment with the new device, I wonder if that will be sufficient for my audience's interests.
This is where your input is invaluable. I need your suggestions on how to maximize the investment in the 12.9-inch M2 iPad Pro. What additional uses can I explore beyond video editing? Or is video editing the primary area of interest for you? Your feedback has always been immensely helpful, and I would appreciate your thoughts.
