Chapter 1: The Beginning of a Writing Adventure

As I embark on my inaugural Medium article, it strikes me that I am somewhat lost, unsure of both my direction and the subject matter. Have you ever found yourself in a similar situation? In high school, I received a whimsical gift: a vibrant, wire-bound journal adorned with fruits and vegetables. Inspired by a New Year's Resolution, I began writing in it—capturing random thoughts, daily memories, and snippets of conversations with friends. Documenting my high school experiences was both freeing and enlightening.

As time passed, my writing evolved. I began to explore deeper themes: reflections on life, dreams for the future, and insights on humanity and art. By the time I graduated, I had filled numerous journals with my life's narratives, including my accomplishments and aspirations. But then, life took an unexpected turn.

Love, marriage, and the arrival of children transformed my daily routine. My journal entries dwindled and eventually ceased as my focus shifted to my career and family. The once-vibrant journals were tucked away, gathering dust in a box, forgotten.

The new responsibilities weighed heavily on me, introducing challenges that shook my confidence and stretched my finances. I felt like a mere shadow of my former self. Despite these struggles, I pressed on, welcoming a second child, purchasing a home, and adopting pets. It would take years before I found the time to reconnect with my writing and rediscover my passions amid the whirlwind of parenting.

When I finally did, I had 40 years of life to reflect upon. And that person? It's me.

Hello there! Now you might have that catchy song stuck in your head. I can almost hear your eyes rolling at this cheesy introduction to my life story, but hey, this is my first article. I thought it might be worthwhile to share a bit about myself for any future readers who might be curious about the person behind the text.

Here's why you might want to engage with my musings: I'm a passionate dad with a big family, eager to share tales of love and life. Though I identify as an introvert, I've spent a surprising amount of time on stage, engaging in everything from music to martial arts, dance, and theater (and yes, I have proof for the skeptics).

I hold several engineering degrees, though I'm still figuring out how that fits into the narrative. As I weave together various topics—some random and others more deliberate—my goals are to:
