Gratitude in the Shadows of Uncertainty: A Thanksgiving Reflection

Chapter 1: A Day of Reflection
As another Thanksgiving approaches, I find myself pondering the nature of gratitude in today’s world. It’s a moment to relish the abundance that many of us take for granted. Here are some of the things that resonate with me this year.
One of the key things I’m grateful for is that Trump is still not our president. Additionally, I cherish the fact that my family and loved ones are alive and well. Living far from urban chaos is a blessing; the city lights are barely visible at night, which brings a sense of peace.
Interestingly, we haven’t formally introduced ourselves to our neighbors yet, and it seems they’re perfectly okay with that. While we might be surrounded by conservative views, I've found a certain respect for personal boundaries among them. They understand property lines and generally stick to their side.
Having more land has also paved the way for our journey toward self-sufficiency. The vastness of the night sky here is both intimidating and awe-inspiring; it feels as though the universe is just a breath away. Thankfully, the skies remain free from intrusive advertisements, and the moon still shines untouched.
Moreover, I’m thrilled to be writing more and actually earning from it through platforms like Medium. I’ve distanced myself from social media rants that only serve to enrich tech moguls. The negativity I receive in comments doesn’t deter me; it fuels my resolve. Each dismissive remark from critics only adds to my motivation, especially knowing that their frustrations stem from a larger societal shift away from their ideals.
And speaking of shifts, I appreciate that Trump’s attempts to undermine our government haven't completely derailed it. Witnessing the resilience of government officials and whistleblowers amidst the chaos has been reassuring. In a twisted sense, I’ve developed a greater trust in my government, thanks to the pressure he's exerted. It appears that the tide may soon turn against him and his allies, and I remain hopeful that we can avoid further division.
My health is another point of gratitude. I’m thankful for the COVID vaccine and look forward to my booster shot. This pandemic has profoundly changed my perspective on medical science; I’ve realized that not all vaccines are created equal. I’ve moved away from pseudoscience and unverified health claims, finding solace in the reliability of vaccines, especially during a global health crisis.
As we gather around the table this Thanksgiving, I wish everyone a moment to reflect and be thankful, even amidst the uncertainty.
