Discover Your True Passion With These 6 Simple Insights

Finding Your Passion
For many years, I searched for my true passion, hoping to uncover that one activity I could pursue wholeheartedly, whether as a hobby or a career. Life is fleeting, and I believed that happiness was something I desperately needed to attain.
In my quest, I explored various avenues to discover what I loved. I tried teaching English online, created a YouTube channel, and took numerous courses on platforms like Udemy. I commend myself for dedicating significant effort to each endeavor, committing to them for one to two years. Through these experiences, I acquired various skills, including video editing and graphic design with Canva.
However, I eventually lost my enthusiasm. I stopped teaching English online, finding it exhausting, and ceased uploading videos after realizing the effort outweighed the rewards. I found myself back at the starting point.
Understanding Passion
Everyone possesses a passion, whether it’s cooking, sports, or diving. I needed to identify mine, so I created a list to clarify what constitutes “passion.” When can we label someone as “passionate” about an activity? Defining this was essential for me.
What Does Passion Mean?
While many definitions exist for “passion,” the only one that truly matters is my own. I compiled six criteria that, if met, would indicate I had found my passion.
What Are The 6 Criteria?
A Continuous Draw
Is there an activity you find yourself returning to repeatedly over the years? For instance, if you love golfing but take breaks, only to rediscover your passion, it shows that the interest has always been there, even if life led you away for a while.
Willingness to Overcome Obstacles
Life’s distractions, such as a demanding job or personal issues, can hinder our passions. Despite these challenges, if you're committed to pursuing your interests—like working on your fitness to play badminton—this is a strong indicator of passion.
Unstoppable Motivation
Picture this: your parents insist you focus on your homework instead of playing video games, yet you continue to play. This relentless drive shows you can’t be deterred from what you love.
Escaping Worries
Do you feel a sense of peace and joy while engaging in an activity? For me, playing badminton washes away my stress, leaving me genuinely happy.
Taking Initiative
Do you go out of your comfort zone to enhance your involvement in an activity? For instance, an introvert who enjoys painting might join a local art group or take classes, demonstrating their commitment to their passion.
Investing Time and Resources
A significant sign of passion is your willingness to spend time and money on it. If you're prioritizing violin lessons over eating out, it’s clear that music holds great importance in your life.
If any of this resonates with you and you’re on the hunt for your passion, I hope these insights assist you in your journey. Once you discover what you love, cherish it!
